This is another photo from my gap year. My school in Jerusalem made sure we all got out and saw the entirety of the land, and we hiked over some pretty awesome terrain. This picture was taken in the south of the country, from the desert area right outside Eilat. We could see neighboring Jordan from pretty much every vantage point on that hike. A couple of times we were able to glimpse a large Jordanian flag flapping in the wind. It looked small, but it must have been massive for us to see it so clearly. At one point, I fancied I could hear it, too. I’ll have to find a picture. (Pity we weren’t able to visit!)
Of all the places we visited, I am fairly sure that this intense, all day hike showed me some of the most visually stunning, impressive vistas I have ever seen in my entire life.
